Feeding the Community, Body and Soul

Our pre-school Yoga class is for babies from 18 months old to pre-school age and a parent or caregiver

This Yoga class introduces the child and parent/caretaker to the benefits of yoga in the first years of life.  Yoga helps to nurture and strengthne the bond between the child and the parent/caretaker.  According to Helen Garabedian, a pioneer in early childhood yoga, parents who meditate (or practice Yoga) are better able to understand their babies on a non-verbal level. In her books, she writes, "This is a valuable parenting skill that will continue to grow as the baby enters childhood and adolescence."

Our yoga leader, Andy Daniels, is highly trained and experienced in the practice of Yoga. You and your young child will delight in practicing Yoga, discovering movements, and spending this time together. Toddlers and tykes can participate according to their ability and personality. They will learn yoga through repetition, play, and bonding.

Yoga is safe, gentle and very effective when done with instruction at home or in a class setting. Parents and caretakers are there to support and assist their toddler into yoga poses whenever necessary. Parents also enjoy the time to practice yoga poses, while letting their child imitate and explore yoga on their own two feet.

If you have a toddler or tyke (18 months to pre-school age), and can join us on the 1st and 3rd Wednesdays during the school year, we welcome you!  For more information, please call the Church office at 638-4119.  Hope to see you soon!
